M. Calangin was not nicknamed Mr. Clutch for nothing, hitting a critical three with six seconds in the game clock that helped Sleep High steal the game from Kwality Ice Cream 70-69 in a thrilling Inter-Company Group A match in the 2012 Perfetto Basketball Tournament organized by Industrial Sports Association (ISA) at Industrial City Dawah Office (ICDO) court in Industrial City Phase I on the outskirts of Jeddah.
Calangin finished with 15 points while Cudal, named Best Player of the game, had 23 points for Sleep High which also drew 12 points from Vista and 9 from Monteza.
Sandoval had another big game for Al Tayar with 27 points that earned him back-to-back Best Player award in his team’s 72-70 triumph over Al-Amoudi in Inter-Company Group D match.
With Mapaye, Bodoraya, Ojeda and De Guzman combining for 57 points Kwality Ice Cream looked to have the game in the bag but Cudal scored heavily in the third quarter with 14 points and Del Rosario added 6 points for Sleep High to stay in the game through the pulsating fourth quarter.
With the score at 68-67 for Kwality and the game clock down to six seconds, De Guzman split his charities off a foul by Monteza of Sleep High and Calangin hit a booming triple on the return play to ice the win for Sleep High.
Amoudi played good defense on Sandoval and Santiago in the third quarter and they retaliated with 23 big points while for Tayar Aquino scored 11 points to end the quarter with a 53-52 lead.
Amoudi remained aggressive and intense on both ends of the court in the final quarter and played tremendous defense on Aquino and Santiago, who was a headache in the third canto, but Sandoval came through for Tayar with 11 points that helped Tayar win the game.
Almarai won over Almira 58-51. Serra was named Best Player of the game with 13 points, Alano added 10, Grupo added 9 and Gangay had 9 and his intensity on the court was really a big deal in Almarai’s victory.
Wasalak downed Softdreams 63-59. Billiones and Kanti totaled 38 between them but this wasn’t enough as Imuan was named Best Player of the game with 23 big points that went with the combined total of 20 points from Morales and Aspa. Bison defeated Fresenius 61-44. Barrios was named back-to-back Best Player honors with 15 points and Astillero added 12 for Bison. Collado led Fresenius with 14 points.
